Comeback Part 1

Retirement & baseball, how can Jordan retire when his popularity was at its peak. People around the world must be thinking why did he do that? Is it because of his father's death, is it because of the gambling debacle? Who knows. But we killed the goose that laid the golden egg. MJ came back after 21 months playing baseball, playing his first game against the Pacers at Market Square Arena. Bulls lost 103-96 in OT. Jordan shot 7-28. Air Jordan X represents the culmination of Jordan's achievements from 1985 to 1994. Take a close look at the soles of the shoes. CLICK TO VIEW PIC. The soles of these shoes are inscribed (from heel to toe) :
Before the 1994-95 season began, the Jordan-less
Bulls were in turmoil. Horace Grant departed and signed with the Orlando
Magic much to the disgust of Bulls management. Adding to the storm,
John Paxson and Bill Cartwright retired. Then Cartwright promptly unretired
and signed a two-year deal with Seattle for lots of money. And as the
season got on, Pippen was not a happy camper because Bulls were slow
to renegotiate his multi-year contract. Pippen's 1989 contract, was
a 10 year deal worth US$16 million, much less than his true value to
the team. It got even worse when Bulls tried to trade him to Seattle
for Shawn Kemp. The deal fell through and the aftermath was Pippen demanding
to be traded. He doesn't want to be part of an organisation that tried
to back-stab him. Clearly the Bulls are a team in strife. Early March,
the Bulls struggling to stay above 0.500, with speculation that Pippen
would be traded once the season's over, and then... the Jordan era is
set to return. |
