The Bulls failed
in their quest for back to back 70 wins, stopping short at 69-13 for the
regular season. But it was a dramatic season for the team with Longley
out late Nov to Jan because of a body-surfing accident. Rodman in trouble
for kicking a Minnessota cameraman named Eugene Amos's balls on Jan 15,
1997. Rodman was fined $200,000 and suspended 11 games.
But manage to get to the NBA finals, they did... In Game 5 of the Finals, a virus-stricken Jordan hit a clutch three pointer with 25 seconds left. In that crucial game, MJ scored 38 points plus 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Michael showed HEART in that game... he was never gonna lose. In that season, did you know Jordan had a triple-double in the All-Star Game. But alas Glen Rice was the MVP (Rice had a scoring spree in the third quarter sealing the game for the East)!! I thought MJ should've been the All-Star MVP. Then in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, what about the sweet assist to Kerr which won the 5th Championship for the Bulls. It's like deja vu, John Paxson's three against Phoenix in Game 6 of the 92-93 Finals.  The
AJ 12 was inspired by "Nisshoki", the Japanese Rising Sun flag
and a 19th century women dress boot. The stitched leather radiates outward
like sun-rays and this theme extends to the arch of the outsole. Two large
rands run along the midsole. The rands are embossed lizard skin style
ala AJ 2. Purpose of the rands are to provide some structural strength
to the uppers. The outsole has modified herringbone pattern for improved traction. Cushioning is provide by full-length Zoom Air unit that are more responsive than encapsulated Air units. This is the first Air Jordan to implement Zoom Air technology. The rubber outsole is heavy but durable. The lack of an inner bootie means that the fit is not as snug as it should be. The regular season colorways were popular but the playoffs lagged behind. The Black/Red and Black/White playoff colourways were on sale in many shops/outlets for US$50-60. For some reason, they were not a great success compared to the Air Jordan 11. |
